Planning a new career is a major

July 31st, 2010

Planning a new career is a major task and requires energy, vision and determination; qualities which are probably in low supply when you reach the end of a busy week.

Begin by making a list of some of your favourite activities ? but be sure they are things you can do without too much effort. Hang-gliding or snowboarding take a bit of organization and aren?t necessarily things you can do regularly ? at the moment. You might choose writing, reading a good novel, exercising, playing with your children, dancing, cooking, listening to music or watching a great movie. Next, find a way of building these activities into your routine, if possible making time for at least one of them every day. If there are less interesting ways in which you spend your free time, such as watching all the soaps, or having a beer too many at the pub, cut back a bit to make time for things you actually enjoy. It should be possible to find time every day to read a few pages of a book or listen to one or two tracks by your favourite singer or composer.

Once you are feeling more upbeat, set aside a day at the weekend or take a day?s leave to look at what you really want in life.

Gates).

In the end, it all depends on the person. For a person which is less entrepreneur and not planning to start his/her own business but to apply to a large company, I would definitely recommend doing an MBA.

The HR departments get hundreds of applications a day, many of them are automatically selected by using database searches, so for certain jobs, CVs not containing “MBA” might not even pass the first recruiting step. We’re living in a global world with thousands of applications, from everywere and world ruled by technology, where people are often preselected by a computer.

On the other hand, MBA without experience, is also not the ideal candidate which companies want, maybe for an entry-level management position or traineeship.

So, as always, balance is the solution, but it is recommendable to first have the experience before deciding upon the strategy of an enterprise or the faith of hundreds of employees.

Go West young man, you will love the River Tyne!

HOLIDAYMAKERS hoping for a special offer break in the Westcountry are instead being directed by an official tourism website to a cheap hotel in Newcastle or Churchill’s War Rooms in London.

Enjoy England’s website, above, features worrying anomalies in which it recognises North Devon as a region for people searching for accommodation, but South Devon draws a blank.

And a search to find a hotel in West Cornwall comes up with a recommendation of a trip to the local hospital.

Accommodation providers in Devon and Cornwall say they are increasingly frustrated with the tourist board for England over the lamentable state of its website.

They are forced to pay for a listing as part of the annual fee for a quality inspection – and many say they have never had a single booking through the website.

Ivan Callanan, who runs Berrio Mill holiday cottages near Callington, South East Cornwall, pays about Pounds 400 a year for the compulsory inspection and website listing.

“It’s been four years, I’ve paid Pounds 1,200 and I’ve not even had an inquiry from the Enjoy England website,” he said.

“If my place was awful or the price was out of the window, I could understand it. But I have had nothing from them. I’m not complaining about the inspection regime, which is very good – it is their website.”

Mr Callanan, whose accommodation is a five-star Gold Award winner, said the desperately slow Enjoy England website was simply not fit for purpose.

The website features gaps and mistakes which have raised serious concerns about its ability to draw tourists in.

In the “destination” section, a search for “special offers” in the South West results in a page dominated by an article directing people how to enjoy Newcastle and Gateshead on a budget.

The page advises visitors on the beauties of Anne Hathaway’s cottage in Warwickshire, Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, Churchill’s War Rooms in London and a camel centre in North Suffolk.

Searching for accommodation is equally perplexing with the Enjoy England website able to find hotels, B& Bs or self-catering in North Devon – but responding that there are no such places in South Devon.

A search of North Devon also reveals accommodation in Bude in North Cornwall. The Enjoy England website reveals the best place for accommodation in West Cornwall is… West Cornwall Hospital. Mr Callanan, who is also a member of Cornish Farm Holidays and Farm Stay, said people had become frustrated and annoyed with Enjoy England.

“We have no choice but to use these people for the inspections. They operate like a monopoly,” he said.

“There are 90 members of Cornish Farm Holidays, all of whom would have to be assessed by Enjoy England for about Pounds 350 a year. That means Enjoy England is getting Pounds 30,000 a year just from a few accommodation providers in Cornwall.

“Yet with that sort of money, they run a website that doesn’t seem to recognise parts of the county.”

Richard Barker, who owns Fowlescombe, five-star farm holiday cottages, near Ivybridge, South Devon, said he had never had a lead from the website in five years.

It was “a complete waste of time” and searches took so long most people would give up. “Enjoy England do the accred-itatioside and I think we would all say they do it well,” he said

July 29th, 2010

For instance, there is compulsive overeating, where an individual goes on eating binges that can last several days. The addict may sometimes lose weight, but tends to gain it back again. Symptoms include eating quickly, compulsively eating alone, and eating when there is no evidence of hunger.

Yet another form of addiction is bulimia, in which an individual overeats, then purges either by vomiting or by taking laxatives. Signs of this condition include isolating oneself when eating, trying to consume huge portions of food rapidly, and being preoccupied with one?s weight.

Food addiction can also come in the form of anorexia, where an individual attempts to starve oneself in order to achieve an unrealistic weight. Anorexics tend to be 15 percent below normal body weight and have a phobia about being fat. They have difficulty eating with other people and appear to be obsessed with weight. They may engage in ritualistic behavior involving food and may suffer from depression.

The good news is that food addiction can be successfully treated.

Ideas for a green future are exciting

0 Comments | Nottingham Evening Post, Jun 11, 2010

TODAY we unveil exciting plans to deliver a green future in Nottingham.

Their appeal is not only in the positive impact they could have on the environment but also the potential benefit for residents in terms of reduced energy costs and jobs.

The challenge of delivering major reductions in carbon dioxide has always centred on making initiatives add up for people in their daily lives.

The city council believes it may resolve that through its new waste and energy strategies.

The documents foresee a low carbon future but also advantages for “thousands” of city residents.

Among the more eye-catching ideas are the pledge to erect photovoltaic cells to allow residents to generate their own solar energy, expansion of the district heating scheme, use of an anaerobic digester to generate energy from food and park waste, and an energy park.

Government, both local and national, has to take the lead on green schemes like this to give residents the necessary incentives to take part.

By constructing photovoltaic cells on a large scale, the council can reduce the costs for residents – and through the ‘feed in’ tariffs offered by central government, local people can make real savings.

The creation of an energy park, an idea first touted by Nottingham industrialist Nat Puri, is innovative.

By offering cut price energy, generated from waste, the initiative can make Nottingham more attractive to manufacturers and bring in jobs.

The details will have to be considered in detail, but the plans, which show more ambition than the city council has mustered in the past, are welcome. A coherent plan is being formed.

Owens not a gamble to Bengals

CINCINNATI — Mike Brown seemed a little offended by my question:

“Are you one of those guys who always sees good in people … maybe where other people don’t?”

The topic of conversation was Terrell Owens — the sometimes mercurial, currently team-less, six-time Pro Bowl receiver and reality TV star to whom the Cincinnati Bengals owner had just offered a contract.

The implication — since during the offseason he also added Antonio Bryant, Adam “Pacman” Jones and Matt Jones, all talents with past warts — was that Brown is football’s Father Flanagan, his fedora replacing that starched roman collar.

“I don’t profess to do anything other than judge people by the way I see them,” Brown said “I’m not going to defend that. I have the right to do it ..

CUTS? WHAT ABOUT MY LIMO!

BLUNDERING Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has put his foot in it again – moaning about losing his chauffeur-driven cars while telling staff they face massive job cuts.

Wealthy Hunt spoke of the “absolute pain” of losing his ministerial car to cut costs as he told shocked civil servants in his Department for Culture, Media and Sport that up to half of them face the sack.

Amazingly, it was Hunt who – in one of his first acts as part of the ConDem coalition – scrapped his department’s ministerial car pool.

Now the Oxford-educated close pal of Prime Minister David Cameron has angered staff in his own department – and his remarks about his own “small start” to cost-cutting have been branded “crass” and “insensitive”.

Hunt, 43, outlined the impact of cuts, which he admitted could halve the workforce of nearly 600, to senior staff at the department’s HQ near Trafalgar Square

Of course the obvious answer is, you

July 29th, 2010

Of course the obvious answer is, you are there to learn the art of Tae Kwon Do. This gives you sustaining power to pursue your objective. Tae Kwon Do is just one example. It can be anything which you are attempting to do.

Learning to control your ego has many positive practical side effects. Remember, ?The meek shall inherit the earth.?

Here is another example of what I am talking about. Part of my weekly workout routine includes swimming laps at the indoor pool several times a week. Swimmers always have priority over “walkers”. (People swimming laps in the pool vs. people walking laps in the pool) Rather then kicking the ?walker? out of the swim lane so I can swim, which creates antagonisms, I would just put off the swim for another day and unfortunately, get less workouts.

Finally I decided to play Mr. Nice Guy and ask the ?walker? to share the ?lane? with me.( The lanes are actually wide enough for two people to navigate nicely.) The walker is normally happy to share the lane with a swimmer.

On the other hand pharmaceutical companies

July 29th, 2010

On the other hand pharmaceutical companies are vying with each other and doing brisk business by incorporating illegal designs to boost up their sales. As a consequence, consumers are left utterly perplexed. While looking out for drugs to control obesity they fear that they might lay their hands on an inefficient drug which may afterwards cause devastation to their health. But thanks to Phentermine, now there is no need to be scared of unwanted results. The battle with the bulge is also gaining momentum, and a stiff opposition is being set up against obesity.

It is extremely likely for chain smokers to gain a very heavy amount of flab after abruptly given up smoking. This sudden increase in weight in not a good omen which is to be thwarted at any cost,by hook or by crook. But if Phentermine is by your side then why should you fear? This weight loss drug is indeed a boon for chain-smokers; they can quit smoking happily leaving behind the fear of weight gain for good.
